- Fight Against Drugs Seminar: The "Fight Against Drugs Seminar" which will be held in cooperation with the Istanbul Police Department Narco-Youth Unit and the Turkish-German University Social Responsibility Coordination, will be held on a date to be announced soon and at a location to be specified in the future. The aim of the seminar is to raise awareness among university students, as well as all academic and administrative staff, about drug use and its harms. In the event, informative presentations will be made by experts on the subject; a practical demonstration with a narcotic dog will be organized to raise awareness about the fight against addiction. The seminar will be supported by question-answer sessions and interactive applications, and participants will be encouraged to actively participate in the subject. The entire university community is invited to this awareness-raising event regarding the fight against drugs.
- Visit to Ümraniye Type-E Closed Penitentiary Institution. On Monday, December 16, 2024, between 13:30 and 16:30, students taking the Execution Law course at the Turkish-German University Faculty of Law and assigned research assistants visited the Ümraniye Type E Closed Penal Institution as part of the event organized with the permission of the Ministry of Justice's Prisons and Detention Houses General Directorate. During the event, one-on-one communication was established with the prisoners, and conversations that would contribute to the process of reintegration into society were held and moral support was provided. In addition, the reflections of the execution law in practice were discussed and interactive applications aimed at developing social responsibility awareness were included.
- A new Bookstore has been successfully established within the recently founded Youth Center at our university, offering financially disadvantaged students free access to textbooks. The project aims to support students’ academic success and bolster equal opportunities in education. During the opening phase, volunteer students and university staff worked together to organize the books, develop a lending system, and manage requests from students in need. By providing free educational materials, students with limited financial resources will find it easier to pursue their studies. The Social Responsibility Coordination Office, which helped coordinate the project, plans to expand the Bookstore’s inventory to include additional resources in the future.
- In cooperation with the Turkish-German University Social Responsibility Coordination Office and the University Youth Center affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a meaningful visit was held at the Üsküdar Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kerim-Nilüfer Gökay Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, between 11:00 and 12:00. As part of the event, conversations were held with the residents of the nursing home, tea and coffee were served, and small gifts were presented. With this visit, the participating students provided moral support to the elderly and contributed to the strengthening of the communication bridge between generations.
- Clothing House Enhancement Initiative: Launched to support economically disadvantaged individuals, this initiative aims to establish a sustainable system for collecting and distributing clothing donations. Improvements will be made to the Clothing House’s layout, shelf organization, and record-keeping processes. Throughout the event, volunteer students and representatives from the relevant units will collaborate to plan the workflow and identify specific needs.
- The Clothing House has been opened on the 2nd floor (the floor with the club rooms) of our University Social Sciences Building (Building C). Those interested can leave new or previously lightly used items that they wish to share and take any items they desire from there. There is no need to seek permission from anyone or inform someone.
Note: The Clothing House will be open continuously.
- On Monday, March 27, 2023, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Adıgüzel delivered a presentation titled "Digitization in Volunteering and the Use of New Media" as part of Volunteerism Studies. The presentation was conducted online for university faculty members and students.
- Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız; TGU Social Responsibility Coordinator and Faculty Member Dr. Semih Emre Çekin, Faculty Member Dr. Nida Erdem and Deputy Secretary General Sebahat Özcan visited the Presidency of the Almshouse on December 5 th , 2022. Upon meeting the President Hamza Cebeci and his team, Rector Yıldız and the accompanying delegation visited the rehabilitation center within the Almshouse after the presentation on the activities of the institution. Our Rector and Social Responsibility Coordinator members, who conversed with the residents of the institution and participated in the activities of the center, exchanged ideas with the officials of the institution concerning the projects that could be conducted with the Presidency. The visit finalized with the exchange of gifts and a photo shoot. (link)
