Visit in Honor of Elderly Respect Week (March 18–24)
As part of Elderly Respect Week (March 18–24), a meaningful visit was organized on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Üsküdar Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kerim-Nilüfer Gökay Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. The event was jointly coordinated by the Social Responsibility Coordination Office of the Turkish-German University and the University Youth Center affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
During the visit, our students and young volunteers engaged in heartfelt conversations with the nursing home residents, listening to their valuable experiences and memories, thereby forging a warm connection across generations. The visible happiness and gratitude on the residents’ faces were a clear testament to the success of this initiative. Small gifts were presented as tokens of appreciation, complemented by tea and coffee refreshments.
Photographs captured during the event depict cheerful moments, with students and seniors laughing together, holding hands, and posing for keepsake photos. This visit not only demonstrated our gratitude and respect towards the elderly but also underscored the significance of intergenerational interaction. The Turkish-German University Social Responsibility Coordination Office emphasized that similar projects aim to raise social awareness and foster a spirit of volunteerism in the community.
